Generative AI-powered contract drafting and negotiation platform Spellbook announced the release of Playbooks, a new contract review functionality for in-house legal teams. The release follows a $20 million Series A funding round for the company last January, as well as the release of Spellbook Associate, a legal AI agent, in August.
“What playbooks are for in-house counsel is the ability to have a set of rules on how you would negotiate the contract and then being able to use AI to run those rules against a contract to actually redline it for you based on your standards and your fallback language, your positions that you use in a negotiation,” said Spellbook co-founder and CEO Scott Stevenson.
“In-house, they’re reviewing the same contract over and over, usually with the same standards, so they end up with a very tight definition of what they typically accept and what they don’t,”
“That’s what makes it really helpful there, is that you’re getting a really structured and clear AI review that’s based on the same standards again and again.”
