Rotterdam-based Zeno, a legal AI startup developing an end-to-end platform for legal professionals, has raised €2M in funding. The investment came from Chris Oomen, founder of Optiver.
Chris Oomen says, “Zeno shows that AI doesn’t have to be a threat to professionals. It can be a source of empowerment. And that’s exactly the kind of technology Europe needs right now.”
Zeno will use the funds to continue building its product, explore more enterprise applications, and increase its team size. The company remains focused on combining legal knowledge with practical use. This development comes as the legal industry seeks AI tools that offer consistent support.
Raoul Bouchrit, co-founder of Zeno, mentions, “Our goal isn’t to replace legal work, but to amplify it. You can’t automate empathy, but you can create more room for it. That’s what our product is really about.”
The platform is designed to assist legal professionals by easing repetitive tasks across the entire workflow. It enables users to process documents, conduct legal research, and draft a range of legal texts more efficiently. Rather than focusing on a single task, Zeno offers a full-stack approach that combines AI and legal expertise to support work from the first draft to the final version. The company works with law firms, corporate legal teams, and notaries, helping them bring AI into daily operations in a reliable and practical way.
Zeno emphasises collaboration to ensure the platform fits naturally into existing workflows, aiming to support professionals without replacing them.
“Legal professionals often face manual, repetitive tasks that hinder their ability to focus on strategic, high-impact work. What if we could help them become more productive while also improving the quality of their output?” said Raoul Bouchrit, co-founder of Zeno. “Lawyers aren’t looking for disconnected tools that solve narrow problems. Real value comes from tightly integrated solutions that actually work in practice.”
