According to SPG Resourcing’s analysis, the legal technology industry is poised to generate over 1,800 employment opportunities in Leeds and West Yorkshire by 2025. Recent data from The Data City, released in September, indicates that while the national cyber sector has experienced a 0.6% decline, Leeds is witnessing a remarkable growth rate of 9.9%. Additionally, Leeds boasts a thriving legal sector comprising 1,560 firms engaged in legal activities and a workforce exceeding 14,400, as reported by Whitecap Consulting.
Sam Hameed, co-founder and managing director of SPG Resourcing, pointed out, “The tech sector in Leeds is displaying robust expansion, and our city has a rich history of strength in the legal industry. These factors position it favorably to benefit from a sector that could potentially be valued at £22 billion globally. The legal industry is rapidly undergoing digital transformation, and Leeds is well-placed to capitalize on this growth as companies ranging from startups to multinational corporations develop their ideas within our city. The latent demand and increasing unmet needs are strong catalysts for the legal technology boom.”
Many legal departments are compelled to reduce risks, enhance efficiency, boost productivity, contribute to the company’s financial growth, and enhance customer experiences. Consequently, the industry is reevaluating how it delivers legal, risk, regulatory, and compliance services by digitizing its processes and functions.
SPG Resourcing asserts that the legal tech sector in Leeds has the potential to make a global impact. The city is home to numerous international law firms that can facilitate the swift global adoption of innovations.
Hameed further emphasised, “The pandemic accelerated the digital transformation plans of many companies, particularly in the legal sector. The challenge for digital teams responsible for these initiatives will be to find partners capable of meeting development requirements and sourcing the highly sought-after talent.”
